The Rotary Club of Dubbo West President Lance Murphy announced the board decision to donate $500 to the locally run ARCHER study at an August club meeting.
The ARCHER Study is researching the physical and mental health and wellbeing of children as they progress from childhood through adolescence in rural areas.
The Study is conducted by the University of Sydney School of Rural Health in Dubbo. ARCHER stands for
Adolescent
Rural
Cohort
Hormones, Health
Education, Environment &
Relationships.
Little is known about the role of hormones of puberty and how they interact with other influences to affect adolescent and future health. The ARCHER study aims to explore these factors so the we can better understand how to protect adolescent health and well being.
You can learn more about the ARCHER study from their website http://www.archerstudy.org.au/ or check them out on Facebook.
The donation comes on the back of Dubbo West Rotary's recent visit to the School of Rural Health campus in Dubbo and a visit last year from the ARCHER study researchers to one of the weekly club meeting.
